China recorded the highest average GDP growth at 7.9% from 1961-2024, while also experiencing the most severe contraction at -27.3% in 1961. Nigeria achieved the highest single-year growth peak at 25.0% in 1970, compared to other major economies like the United States (7.2% peak in 1984) and Germany (7.4% peak in 1969).
